Looking back
Looking back on the last seven years of my college experience one thing rings true: I always imagined having a job after graduation.
Currently, I work for an Irish pub as a server. I’ve worked in the serving industry for several years and it’s the reason why I got back in school.
I just find it ironic that I will still be doing this after graduation.
Sure it’s a steady job because people have to eat and drink, but it’s just not what I had imagined as I got ready to cross the stage, be handed a diploma and sent off into the real world.
Welcome to the real world, I’ll say to you condescendingly, as John Mayer would put it.
I don’t blame anyone for this, with the exception of maybe Ronald Reagan, but it’s not polite to speak ill of the dead.
Of course no one can take my degree away from me, but can it be used to help me?
Not at the moment, so it seems.
