Loss of time
The internet to me is just a time waster.
It’s a useful tool if you’re researching paper or trying to become more informed on various issues, but with so much content it’s hard to stay focused.
Arguably, it can guide you into a world you’ve never seen, but for workers who rely on computers and the World Wide Web as part their job, that’s not such a useful feature.
Games, news stories, web clips and the ever popular celebrity blogs sidetrack the average user causing them to be less productive.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy the internet, because I do. It’s interesting to see anything you’d ever want with a few keystrokes and a couple clicks of the mouse. It provides doors to opportunity and windows to other people’s lives.
But mostly it’s just updating your friends on Facebook, posting photos of last night’s bar escapades and seeing how much trouble the rising child star has caused for themselves.
At least the tabloids will soon be out of my supermarket aisle.
